4 of my Project365Pooch, images were chosen to be in a 2008 Havanese Calendar! It arrived in the mail yesterday, just as I was getting REALLY desperate for something to shoot for the 'Calendar' theme. Very TIMELY, eh! I'm so proud of my 2 boys! Yay!

Wind Farm I-5 To LA

Shot this on the way back from Arizona in November. We pulled off and actually drove up as close as we could to the mammoths, which wasn't too close but STILL very impressively so! It was only a barbed wire fence, so perhaps the next time I'll get a bit closer!

Desi Non-Compliant First-Aid Volunteer

Martin and I were guinea pigs for our friend Heather's pet first-aid training course that she was just certified for and wanted to try out a few times before she did any large groups. So she came over and did her 2-hour Power Point presentation and because her "Annie" doll doggy equivalent hadn't arrived we used out 2 Havanese, Babalu and Desi. Babalu was the compliant one, in the preceding photo, http://www.slutbunwalla.com/index.php?showimage=538, who let us apply a compression bandage to 'fix' his bleeding arm. Desi, pictured here, was the non-compliant one who barely let us apply a gauze muzzle, which may be necessary in times when your pooch is in pain or you may have to cause pain to save him or her.

It was a very interesting and helpful course and I highly recommend that you seek one out if you have a pet and are curious about first-aid. Next we're going to organize a class for Emergency Response for Pets, which is important living in the Bay Area. Especially after seeing the mess they made after Katrina.
