About Mostly Sunny

Who Is PJ Taylor?

Gear: Canon S2 IS & Fuji S6000
Note
: You will occasionally note me shooting with a Digital Rebel, as I’m working up the courage and skill to nab Martin's DSLR more and more and go snapping. Alas, I’m notoriously bad with gear for some odd reason and know the penalty for injuring M’s camera would be very wretched, indeed.

Bio: Me? I’m Patti Taylor. I moved to San Francisco, CA, from Phoenix, AZ, in the early 90’s after a hilariously long college stint at Arizona State. Listen, I worked 30 hours a week, endlessly reciting into my mouthpiece, “You’re someone special at Ramada. How can I help you?” and after that many years of going to class and studying for midterms and finals, it was hard to drum up enthusiasm to study, but, hey, I made it! And I was an English Lit. grad, too. Just like my husband. And that’s why we’re in a bookclub together. I should say a wine and bookclub. One that’s going 10 years strong!

I’m also known as PJ Taylor of www.mybluemuse.com my abandoned poetry website, which I plan to tidy up and archive with a bunch of my published stuff. The skinny on why I’m no longer writing poetry? I’m almost too embarrassed to say, if that’s even the right word, but why not? I was unhappy for so long, and found writing therapeutic, a way to cleanse my soul, yada, yada. Then I found a really great anti-depressant and discovered such a sense of peace inside. Unfortunately, this quietude, not a state of loneliness mind you, stifled my flow of words.

Anyway, it gets boring from there…a diagnosis with RA and living with pain and its management. This brings me to photography--I can’t write so much for prolonged periods but taking pictures has once again brought to me that rush of creativity that I haven’t felt in such a long time and I’m grateful to have a photoblog and hope to create a community in which to share it.

Theme: I’ve always gotten a kick out of the small details—seeing a face in tree bark, or a flamingo in a bathroom tile, or a woman’s silhouette in an oak door. I actually wanted to purchase that door! Now, I realize I could have just snapped a picture and had it for all time. The possibility of “collecting” my own cabinet of curiosities is deliciously tantalizing! This will be a place of “mostly sunny” images, but you know how the weather here in San Francisco is, so be prepared for anything!

Anyway, welcome!

PJ Taylor
